NAMPA AUDITORIUM DISTRICT

Pay for local venue improvements at NO COST to Nampa Residents!

Nampa’s trusted facilities have been home to thousands of incredible events over the decades, serving both locals and visitors alike. But, with inflation and growth, the cost to improve, expand, and update these facilities is costing the City of Nampa considerably more each year.

That is why our city needs the Nampa Auditorium District.

Local Control on Local Improvements

Drive Tourism without Cost of Growth

WHO PICKS UP THE COST?

Anyone who is visiting the area and stays at one of our local hotels will pay a user fee.

Hotels within the Nampa Auditorium District will collect a 5% sales tax on their rooms.

The fees incurred by hotel guests to Nampa will be used to offset the cost the city currently pays for facility improvements. This allows the facilities to remain premier event locations without costing the taxpayer any more money.

LOCAL CONTROL LOCAL VENUES.

Once the vote passes, the Nampa Auditorium District Board of Directors will be created of members who live in the auditorium district boundary. Those who live in the auditorium district boundaries will make future decisions including investments or improvements to the facilities, including;

  • New and updated facilities
  • Expansion of existing buildings
  • Enhancements

FUND VENUE IMPROVEMENTS.

Nampa’s trusted facilities have held thousands of incredible events over three decades, serving both locals and visitors alike. With inflation and growth, the cost to update these facilities is costing the City of Nampa more than $1 million. This solution puts that burden on out-of-towners who stay in our hotels and use our auditoriums.

SAVE MORE ON LOCAL TAXES.

Right now, the City of Nampa allocates a taxpayer-based budget for the operation, maintenance, and improvement of the City’s auditoriums, the Ford Idaho Center and the Nampa Civic Center.

By passing the creation of an auditorium district this May, the City of Nampa taxpayer will not be called upon to foot the entire bill for projects that can be funded from the hotel user fee.

If any auditorium district is created, how much will it cost me?

Absolutely NO additional costs or taxes to Nampa residents. Instead we are creating a user fee for visitors to our beautiful city. They will be paying a fee based on their hotel stays. Those fees will go to the Nampa Auditorium District to use for brick-and-mortar expansions, enhancements, and promotions of our facilities.

Will this increase my property taxes?

NO. Instead, your tax burden could decrease as funding for venue improvements, expansion, and promotion will be paid by out of town visitors staying in hotels.

People who come from out of town and use the facilities will cover the cost of wear and tear.

Canyon County is thriving, and more people are visiting the area each year. In fact, the Idaho Horse Park (a major component of the Ford Idaho Center) sees more visitors each year than it does locals.

Since 2017, more than 5,000 unique registered zip codes have been recorded at the Idaho Horse Park. Of that, 86% of the zip codes are NOT from the Treasure Valley and of that number 76% of the zip codes are NOT from within the state of Idaho.

The up to 5% user fee on the cost of the hotel room will help cover Nampa venue’s costs.

Will continue to drive tourism that does NOT require growth.

Nampa’s trusted facilities have been home to thousands of incredible events over three decades, serving both locals and visitors alike. We love having visitors to our beautiful city to participate in events like concerts, shows, Monstor Truck Jam, Snake River Stampede, state high school sporting events and more. Their visits mean economic revenue to our City. That doesn’t mean we want growth, in fact just the opposite.

But, with inflation and growth, the cost to update these facilities is costing the City of Nampa considerably more each year. Our residents should not bear this burden alone and the Nampa Auditorium District will offset this burden on Nampa taxpayers.

WHY NAMPA RESIDENTS ARE IN FAVOR OF THE NAMPA AUDITORIUM DISTRICT

“This is an incredible opportunity for Nampa residents to cover the needed infrastructure maintenance and repair of our two public facilities. The Nampa Civic Center and Ford Idaho Center are hubs for quality entertainment and family fun. We are lucky to have them and by voting in favor in November we are creating longevity at no additional cost to homeowners like me.”  -Ysabel Bilbao, Nampa native

“The Nampa Auditorium District is critical for continuing to add to the economic growth of our area. The district will be able to add to current facilities, ensuring continual attraction of events & economic impact they bring to the local business community. I firmly believe this will be a key initiative in the success of our local business community & entertainment venues.” – Andrew Luther, Ford Idaho Center General Manager

“Three decades ago Nampa’s leaders had the foresight to invest in two auditoriums in our community, the Nampa Civic Center and the Ford Idaho Center. These facilities were built by many generous donations, gracious volunteer community hours and utilizing the tools available to get the job done. Since this time, these facilities have provided tremendous value to Nampa bringing world class entertainment to our community, providing meeting space for our business and organizations, providing community gathering space, and significant economic value to our community, just to name a few. Until now, the costs to operate, expand and renovate the auditoriums has fallen on the Nampa taxpayer. Today we have an opportunity to reduce that burden on the Nampa taxpayer while continuing to invest in improvements to our auditoriums. I fully support the Nampa Auditorium District that will provide this funding and I hope you will too.” – Jeff Agenbroad, Nampa business owner and former Idaho State Senator

“The Idaho Center and Civic Center have world class amenities which benefit residents and visitors alike. The good people of Namp have thru their taxes supported these facilities above operational expenses. It is only fair that our visitors pay a nominal fee thru room taxes to help maintain and expand these facilities. I fully support the Auditorium District proposal. All Nampa taxpayers as well as visitors will benefit from keeping these facilities in first class condition.” – Hubert Osborne, Nampa resident
